Big Brother Australia’s first eviction has rocked the House, with Michael becoming the inaugural contestant to be shown the door during Sunday night’s episode.
The outspoken Publisher and CEO made an early impact in the House, earning a reputation as a professional pot-stirrer. Never shy to voice strong opinions on people, politics or the outside world, Michael quickly ruffled feathers amongst his fellow Housemates.
During the first round of nominations, Michael received 13 points from his peers, placing him up for eviction alongside Holly, who topped the tally with 21 points, and Jane, who was automatically nominated after failing to remain hidden upon entering the House as the 13th Housemate.
Controversy also followed Michael during the season’s opening shopping task, where he was forced to rank his fellow Housemates from most to least intelligent based on the Australian public’s perception — a challenge that didn’t help smooth over tensions.
Despite the drama, Michael remained composed as his name was announced. Flashing a grin as he stepped outside, the unfiltered Housemate appeared unfazed by his early exit.
Speaking to host Mel Tracina, Michael said he had no intention of playing it safe.
“I didn’t want to go in there and not ruffle feathers. I went in there, ruffled feathers and here I am! But if I went back in… I’d do it all again, absolutely.”
Reflecting on his time in the House, Michael admitted the experience may only change him “for about 10 minutes,” but noted that mixing with people outside his usual circles had been unexpectedly humbling.
He also said that forming connections — particularly with Mia — was something that “wouldn’t have happened without Big Brother.”
With no regrets and his trademark confidence intact, Michael becomes the first casualty of the season, leaving behind a House already buzzing from his short-lived but memorable stay.
